AI Assistant in the Builder
The AI Assistant brings Mumara AI into the Drag & Drop builder, so you can get help while you build without switching screens. Ask it to create a layout, add a section, change colours or text, or check the email for problems.
The AI Email Builder creates a whole email from a conversation. The AI Assistant works on the email that's already on your canvas.
| AI Email Builder | AI Assistant | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | A page of its own | A panel inside the Drag & Drop builder |
| What it's for | Creating a complete email from scratch | Creating, adding to and changing the email you're building |
| What it produces | A full HTML email | Sections that you apply to the canvas |
| How you work | Chat first, then save the result | Build visually and ask for help as you go |
| Sees your current email | No | Yes, including its styles |
| Image attachments | Yes | No |
Open the AI Assistant
- Go to Campaigns → Broadcasts and open a broadcast that uses the Drag & Drop builder. See Email Builder.
- In the builder's toolbar, click AI (its tooltip reads AI Assistant).
- The AI Assistant panel slides in from the right.
The first time you open it, the panel reopens your most recent unfinished conversation for this broadcast, if there is one. To close the panel, click ×, click outside it or press Esc. Closing it keeps the conversation, so it's still there when you open the panel again.
The panel
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| History icon (Conversation history) | Opens the Conversations list for this broadcast. |
| Tier drop-down | Chooses the tier for your next message. See AI Tiers. |
| Credit balance | Your AI credit balance. |
| New conversation icon | Starts a fresh conversation. It appears once a conversation has messages. |
| × | Closes the panel. |
| Quick actions | Inspect Email, Generate Subject, Generate Preheader and Plain Text Version. See Quick actions. |
| Message box | Type your request. It reads Ask AI to create or edit your email... and takes up to 5,000 characters. Press Enter to send and Shift + Enter for a new line. |
A new conversation opens with Hi, I'm AJAX!, the assistant's name. While it works, the panel shows Thinking with a timer.
What you can ask for
The assistant receives your current email, with its styles, every time you send a message. It uses the fonts, sizes, colours and spacing that appear most in your email, so new sections match what's already there.
| You ask | What happens |
|---|---|
| Create an email, on an empty canvas | It designs a complete email for the purpose you describe, such as a promotion, a newsletter or a welcome email. |
| Add something, such as "Add a testimonial section" | It writes only the new section and picks a sensible place for it, for example above the footer. Say where if you have a preference. |
| Change something, such as a colour, a link, some text or a button | It rewrites only the section you mean and keeps its existing styles. |
| Remove a section | It removes only that section. |
| Move a section | It moves it before the section you name. |
Apply the changes
Nothing on your canvas changes until you click Apply to Editor under the assistant's reply. You then see a short confirmation, such as Email created successfully, Content added to canvas, Content updated, Section removed or Section moved.
Applying a change never replaces the rest of your design: only an empty canvas gets a whole email. After applying, click Save or Save & Exit in the toolbar to keep your work.
The assistant finds sections by their content. "Change the button under Summer Sale to green" works better than "change the second button". If you see Could not find matching section, name the section by a heading or phrase that appears only once in the email.
Quick actions
The four buttons above the chat run a task on your current email in one click. Add some content to the canvas first. On an empty canvas you'll see Add some content to the editor first.
| Quick action | What it does | Tier used |
|---|---|---|
| Inspect Email | Reviews the email for deliverability, design, content and accessibility issues, labelled [Critical], [Warning] or [Suggestion], with a short summary. If it finds critical issues or warnings, click Apply Fixes to have the assistant fix those in the chat, then Apply to Editor. | Mumara AI Advanced |
| Generate Subject | Suggests a subject line based on your email. Copy it into the broadcast's subject line. | Mumara AI Fast |
| Generate Preheader | Suggests pre-header text that complements the subject line. | Mumara AI Fast |
| Plain Text Version | Writes a plain-text version of the email, keeping your personalization tags. Copy it into the broadcast's text body. | Mumara AI Fast |
Quick actions always use the tier shown, whatever you've chosen in the drop-down.
Conversations
Conversations in the AI Assistant belong to the broadcast you're building, and the panel lists only its own conversations, not those from the AI Email Builder. Quick-action results aren't saved in the conversation.
- Resume a conversation. Click the history icon, then click a conversation in the Conversations list. The tier drop-down switches to the tier it used.
- Start a new one. Click the new conversation icon in the header, or New Conversation at the bottom of the list. Earlier conversations stay in the list.
- Delete one. Click its delete icon. It's deleted straight away, with no confirmation, and can't be recovered.
- Clear all. Click Clear All and confirm Delete all conversations? This cannot be undone. This deletes the AI Assistant conversations for this broadcast only.
Deleting conversations never changes your email.
Credits
The AI Assistant uses the same AI credit balance as the rest of Mumara AI. Each reply shows how many credits it used. What a message uses depends on:
- the tier
- the length of your message and of the reply
- the length of the conversation
- the size of your email, because the whole email goes with every message
Because your email goes with every message, the AI Assistant can use more credits than the same request in the AI Email Builder, especially on long emails with many sections.
See AI Credits for your balance and topping up.
Tips
- Say where. "Add a testimonial section above the footer" is clearer than "add a testimonial".
- Refer to what's there. "Make the hero banner use the blue from our header".
- Use the quick actions for subject lines, pre-headers and plain-text versions instead of typing the request.
- Use Mumara AI Fast for text changes and small edits, Mumara AI for new sections, and Mumara AI Advanced for complex, multi-section work.
- Start a new conversation when you move on to a different task.
- Design from a mockup in the AI Email Builder, which accepts images. The AI Assistant doesn't.
Troubleshooting
The AI button isn't in the toolbar
- The AI Assistant is only in the Drag & Drop builder. For a broadcast that uses the HTML editor, use the AI Builder button on its HTML Body card instead. See Using the AI Builder.
- If you're in the Drag & Drop builder and there's still no AI button, Mumara AI isn't part of your plan. Contact Mumara support.
Nothing changed on the canvas
- Click Apply to Editor under the reply. Replies aren't applied automatically.
- If the reply has no Apply to Editor button, it contained no email content. Ask again, for example "Generate the HTML for a testimonial section".
- If you see Could not find matching section, name the section by a heading or phrase that appears only once in the email.
- Save your work, reload the builder and try again.
Messages use a lot of credits
- Start a new conversation when the current one gets long.
- Use Mumara AI Fast for simple requests.
- Remove sections you no longer need before asking the assistant to work on the whole email.
